For Castle to Castle, I’ll run between the castles in all the UK and Ireland’s capital cities – from The Tower of London to Edinburgh Castle, Belfast Castle, Dublin Castle and Cardiff Castle, aiming to return to The Tower of London in a gruelling 22 days. The challenge is a way of raising as much money as possible for The Brain Tumour Charity and remembering my amazing sister Tracey, who sadly died in 2003.

If you’d like to join me at any point, the route is below, and you can follow me using this tracker.

Why I’m doing the Castle to Castle challenge

My sister Tracey was an incredible woman with a loving husband and two fantastic children. Although feeling unwell, Tracey didn’t know she was suffering from a brain tumour. Losing someone dear to you so suddenly is very difficult. It makes you ask questions about life, some of which are unanswerable.

2017 seemed like the right time to do something to remember my sister and help others avoid the kind of loss my family and I experienced. The challenge has been in the back of my mind for a number of years, but there was always an excuse to say “next year”… Finally, I realised that I had to stop thinking about it and just do it!

So here I am, running this crazy distance to raise some real awareness for The Brain Tumour Charity. Please visit my JustGiving page to make a donation to this brilliant cause, and help change the future for people suffering from brain tumours.

About The Brain Tumour Charity

Over the next five years, more than 46,000 people in the UK will be diagnosed with a brain tumour. Almost 25,000 of these people will die. The Brain Tumour Charity has two key goals:

  • Double survival rate within 10 years
  • Halve the harm that brain tumours have on quality of life within five years
